You may ask yourself, “Why would I need coaching?” Coaches and clients work in a casual environment, as a team, to establish goals in any part of the client’s life that is not living up to expectations. Once the client’s goals are established, the next task is to develop techniques, strategies and habits to achieve those goals. The client is then held accountable for taking the agreed upon actions to achieve those goals. Coaching differs from counseling or therapy in that the coach and client work together, starting from the present and try to map out a way to make the future better. The time-frame and the methods that coaching deals with vary greatly from that of counseling or therapy. Coaching takes a person at the present moment and strategizes how to make the future better. Counseling and therapy tend to look to the past to assess where the client has come from and then try to judge how that will affect their future.
